World Cleanup Day Celebration at Alitalab Lake, Kukatpally: A Step Towards a Cleaner and Greener Hyderabad

Every small step towards protecting nature creates a ripple of change — and that’s exactly what happened at Alitalab Lake, Kukatpally, this World Cleanup Day. On 20th September, the serene surroundings of Alitalab Lake came alive as over 120 enthusiastic volunteers joined hands to restore and rejuvenate one of Hyderabad’s vital urban lakes.

Organized by Dhruvansh NGO, the event brought together school students, corporate employees, and local community members — all united by a common mission: to make their city cleaner, greener, and more sustainable.

🧹 Cleaning Drive: Restoring the Beauty of Alitalab Lake

Plastic waste, debris, and overgrown water hyacinth had started to choke the lake, threatening its delicate ecosystem. The cleaning drive aimed to change that. Volunteers worked tirelessly to remove waste and pollutants, clearing the lake’s surface and surroundings.

The transformation was not just visible but emotional — seeing heaps of plastic replaced with clean shores reminded everyone of the power of collective effort. The drive also highlighted the urgent need to protect Hyderabad’s urban lakes from pollution and encroachment.

“When communities come together for nature, real change begins,” said a Dhruvansh representative during the event.

🌱 Plantation Drive: Planting Seeds for a Sustainable Future

To complement the cleanup, Dhruvansh also organized a plantation drive along the lake bund and surrounding areas. Volunteers planted native saplings, helping to improve the lake’s green cover and create a thriving habitat for local flora and fauna.

Each sapling represented hope — hope for cleaner air, cooler surroundings, and a more balanced ecosystem. By planting trees, participants weren’t just beautifying the lake; they were investing in Hyderabad’s environmental future.

💚 Community Participation: The Heart of Every Change

What made this event truly inspiring was the unity among participants. Students, corporates, and local residents came together, breaking barriers of age and background, to work for a shared cause.

Their efforts showcased that sustainability begins with awareness and action — and that everyone, no matter how small their contribution, plays a vital role in environmental conservation.

🌏 Building a Cleaner, Greener Hyderabad

The World Cleanup Day celebration at Alitalab Lake was more than just a one-day event — it was a reminder that our planet’s well-being depends on continuous efforts. Initiatives like these, led by Dhruvansh NGO, inspire more citizens to take responsibility for their surroundings.

By nurturing our lakes and preserving their ecosystems, we can ensure Hyderabad remains a city of lakes and greenery for generations to come.
